I attended a director's viewing of MP2 with fellow Pemberleans when it opened. Patricia Rozema said that her Fanny Price was a combination of MP's Fanny Price and Jane Austen in her youth. The director relied on Jane's letters and juvenilia to complete the character we see in the movie. "Run mad as you chuse but do not faint" is included in MP2.

I don't want to get into a discussion of MP at this board -- I'm merely providing the background to confirm your thoughts.
