I tried the experiment of watching MP2 but not as MP. It seemed to me that they made Fanny into JA. Once I got over that MP2 isn't MP and that JA was the unfortunate neice to move into Mansfield, i found the quotes amusing.

However, I still dislike that version.

It had been so long since I read L&F that I forgot where they lifted those quotes from.

This MP thread brought to mind Lovers Vows and some of the improbablity found in that: mother and son reunited and son is the heir to the duke. I don't remember if we know why she chose that play. It seems it is along the same vein that she is parodying here in L&F.
