Good natured fun…   Written by Robbin (6/19/2006 9:15 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, LOL! Yes!! They tarried quite elegantly, didn't they?, penned by Reeba
Are you new?

"This instant, Dear and Amiable Edward," (replied I). We were immediately united by my Father, who, tho' he had never taken orders, had been bred to the Church. (Letter 6th)

JA seems to poke a lot of good natured fun at her father the clergyman and the parent. Laura’s parents are much like her or rather reversed, she is like them because they marry her off without a qualm and it cannot be legal since, like Wickham (P&P) her father was only “bred to the Church.” I also really enjoyed the part where Laura’s father “longed” to know who was at the door although he could not bring himself to answer the violent knocking himself in Letter 5th and Noble Youth who declares in Letter 7th he had not given “satisfaction” to his father since the age of fifteen and Augusta who says it is actually from the age of five. These things would be so amusing actually acted out I think, of course with all the appropriate drama! LOL :D
