Facisimile Edition   Written by Carolyn (8/27/2004 9:30 p.m.)
Are you new?

I love this facsimile of the work. I had a chance to the original at the british library a couple of years. (I remember it being smaller, but that could be because it was behind glass.)

Jane wrote with a very even hand. I find I can easily read the contents without the typeset version to translate them.

I like the way the underside shows through, all the foxing (brown spots), the way the pages are re-numbered. The spot on page 83/165 that looks like some sort of food stain. The few final changes she made to the manuscript. You can even tell when she re-dipped her pen.

In a way it brings much closer to author, doesn't it?
