Yes indeed   Written by Deborah d'Bajor (8/26/2004 9:53 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, The Dudleys and a connection to Queen Mary., penned by Mandy N
Are you new?

You do wonder how serious the offer to MQoS was though!

Robert Dudley was created Earl of Leicester by Elizabeth and actually did later marry again, a cousin of the queen's, Lettice Knollys (I think she was a grandaugher of Mary Boleyn, Anne's sister). Lettice had been married previously and her son was.... the Earl of Essex!

Not that she was allowed back at court after the marriage was discovered by Elizabeth, of course!

The aristocracy really were a small world!

And on the subect of Amy Robsart - did she fall or was she pushed? We can never prove anything for certain, but it's now thought likely she was suffering from breast cancer, and either threw herself down the stairs as she couldn't take any more (and she did send ALL of her servants off to the fair) or in her weakness she accidentally tripped.
