And its all in Goldsmith ;-)   Written by JulieW (8/24/2004 5:44 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Cardinal Wolsey & the Leicester Abbey, penned by Carolyn
Are you new?

Which is why ,IMHO, JA ironically terms it one of the "principal events which marked his(Henry VIII's )reign";-)

From Letter XXX :

He(Cardinal Wolsey-JW) at first failed to comply as being a Cardinal: but finding the earl bent upon performing his commission, he complied, and set out , by easy journies, for London, to appear as a criminal, in a place formerly where he acted as a king. In his way, he stayed a fortnight a the earl of Shrewsbury’s, where one day at dinner he was taken ill, not without violent suspicion of having poisoned himself: being brought forward from thence, with much difficulty he reached Leicester-abbey , where the monks coming out to receive him, he said, Father abbot, I am come to lay my bones among you.
