Of course Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard were both neices of the Duke of Norfolk, but actually all six of his wives were actually related to Henry VIII in some way - which just goes to show what a small world the upper classes formed! Perhaps it explains the eccentricity....! On the question of Catherine's guilt - it's difficult - she was certainly indescreet though. She's the only one of the six queens for whom there is no officially recognised portrait. There's one everyone thought was her, but now it's thought to be of Jane Seymour's sister Catherine! |
