From what I can gather   Written by JulieW (8/22/2004 6:34 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Yorkists & Lancastrians, penned by Anne Charlotte
Are you new?

Goldsmiths standard work, from which I am quoting extensivley in this GR, took the Whig view of History.

Basicaly, anything in England's past that led to the establishment of the Protestant Religion in England was to be deemed without question, a "Good Thing".

So, guess who are the heros of his text? Yes,you got it, the Tudors. So the Yorkists whowere the opponents of the Tudors get fairly short shrift.

I think JA, despite begin the dauhgter of an Anglican clergyman, dislkes this very obvious bias in Goldsmiths work. And took a contrary view.

She cetainly lampoons his accauracy as aan historian.GOldsmith meges fact with fiction,as we have seen, taking references from Shakepeare's plays( without attribuion, note)as fact.At least JA cites her refernces, mad though they are!LOL
