Edwards   Written by Deborah d'Bajor (8/20/2004 4:13 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Yes, you're right, penned by Cheryl
Are you new?

Yup, Edward the Confessor comes just before Harold and William the Conqueror. He's Englands Royal Saint. Well, just the best known one, actually!

Edward I was Longshanks - the hammer of the Scots, his son Edward II was a bit lilly livered (watch this royal pattern...!) and also "happened to be murdered" by his wife, Isabella, and her lover, Roger Mortimer. Marlowe wrote a play about Edward II - not that I've read it! He's the one you always remember as he was allegedlly murdered with a red hot spit thrust up his nether regions. I wonder how JA would have put that! His son was - originally - Edward III, who overthrew the regency of his Mother and Mortimer. He was killed and she was packed off to Castle Rising Castle, if memory serves.

And tomorrow, we've a couple "more Edwards!!!
