]Pomfret Castle is actually Pontefract Castle in Yorkshire, now in ruins.

Is "Pomfret" some sort of play on words, or is that how it was pronounced and JA spelled it phonetically?

And I spotted this on the link, which made me think the castle was in good hands. ;-)

"The site owned by Wakefield Museums & Arts Department..."
