]You do wonder however, if JA really was ignorant about history. I think not, by proclaiming it here - she's just having some fun! The dedication from the 16 year old JA is to her sister.

I agree, I do not think JA was really ignorant about history.

I love that line, too! And a note for that says:

cf. Oliver Goldsmith's popular school-room History of England (1764), which contained only two dates. [Oxford World's Classics]
