Possibly from Goldsmith's...   Written by Mandy N (8/20/2004 9:14 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Are they modeled on real people?, penned by Carolyn

]Are they modelled on real people?

]To me, it would be more interesting if Cassandra were in on the joke and chose people known to them...

I so agree. They certainly mock and shock straight-laced historical readers like me. LOL!

The nearest I can come up with is a comment by David Noakes in 'Jane Austen', ch.4 who comments "Monarchs and warriors appear like quarrelsome neighbors"

Quarrelsome neighbors being France and England or querrelous people JA knew I'm not sure!

Anyway, Noakes says;

"While Jane parodied Goldsmith's 'History', Cassandra made fun of it's illustrations...For the portrait of Henry V, who won 'the famous battle of Agincourt', Cassandra chose to depict the heroic monarch in modern naval uniform, just like their brother Frank".

Frank maybe?
I'm afraid it remains unclear at this point who the models were.
