The thing that struck me about JA's wit was 1)How it really resonates because you so clearly see the precursings of her splendid wit in her novels and 2)how much like a teenager she sounds! My dd has the same droll, irreverance towards anything smacking of authoritativeness (is that a word?). If she is spoofing a serious history of England, I can imagine someone with so much intelligence and wit cringing at history presented with no humor! Boorring and drrryyyy. Let's show how absurd these people really are!
