I love every other Shakespeare play I have ever read, except Hamlet-It's not the language (I agree its wonderful), or the plot (it gets me every time) but the character of Hamlet himself. I just can't like him-I've tried to force myself (as I said I studied the play for a year and a half)-I even wrote a pro-Hamlet final essay-It just doesn't work. Flagellation is good, but not carried to excess and producing no action, and when it does, he turns into an unbalanced maniac. I'm open to being convinced, but I don't like him.
