I had the impression she married Claudius for security, though I can't really justify that based on the text. What would have happened to her if she had not married Claudius? I'm not too clear on how the monarchy works. Would she have retained her title of Queen and lands, or been sort of cast aside like Mrs. Bennett would be in P&P? Could her personal security and safety have figured into the equation?
