GR: King Claudius   Written by Cheryl (5/25/2003 5:36 p.m.)
Are you new?

Why is Claudius king, rather than Hamlet? It seems to have been a bloodless coup, Hamlet did not fight him for the throne. I've assumed that Hamlet is in Wittenburg when his father dies and has been called back, yes? Was the transfer of power a done deal then, by the time he returned and he too consumed by grief to object to it?
