I admit to having a hard time getting a handle on Polonius. I ha the Norton Edition as well, but haven't read the notes. Perhaps I should.
It occurs to me that maybe sometimes Polonius has a hard time balancing the relationship with his kids and his king. It seems to me that sometimes, his officiuosness to the king bleeds over into his treatment of his kids. I don't immediately see him going the other direction though. This leads me to think that he is much more interested in his relationship with his king than his kids, really. Which in turn would lead to a possible partnership with the Claudius in his evil doings.
I think my brain just exploded! I'll have to chew on this on for a bit longer.
