I don't actually think it makes him noble, but I do think it means he often gathers more correct information. If you set out to spy on people, your information is only believable if you know that no one knows you're listening.

The scene with Claudius praying is especially interesting, I think. If Hamlet had been able to hear what Claudius was saying, the story would have taken quite a different turn.
