Cain and Abel   Written by Stacie M. (5/21/2003 1:33 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, GR: Denmark as Eden, penned by Cheryl
Are you new?

] I like this idea, Barb. So, to Hamlet, Denmark when his father was alive was an Eden, and then with the sin of regicide, came also a whole host of other sins: incest, covetousness, lying, theft, etc. Denmark is now without grace and has been cast out of Eden and into the outer darkness

It also sort of reminded me of the Biblical story of Cain and Abel - In Hamlet one brother killed another out of jealousy, only to be exiled and alienated, tormented by his conscience. Seems alot like Claudius, who's also exiled Denmark from "Eden" by his actions, and is tormented with guilt.
