Yeah, see, this is what I meant. Different sources give different meanings, even sources which are supposed to be Shakespearan don't agree. Just in these couple of sources you two mention we get

Columbine: resolution - foolishness - marital infidelity - flattery
Fennel: strength - ingratitude
Daisies: indecision - unhappy love

I suppose a case can be made for any of these, all of these meanings can be applied to Ophelia, though they are very different. I, like you, Barbara, think an author chooses specific words for a reason - there's a reason Shakespeare made it daisies and not poppies, for example. But I suppose we may never know why. :-/
