GR: Thinking of marriage   Written by Cheryl (5/19/2003 12:34 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, GR Setting Ophelia up, penned by Deborah Julia
Are you new?

] Although Polonius and Laertes do warn her about Hamlet, I get the feeling they are trying to put the idea of marriage into her head.

I believe Ophelia was probably already thinking of it. I mean, Hamlet sends her love letters, she's a good girl, of good family - not a princess - but why would she think Hamlet was not being honorable or honest in his attentions to her?

My impression is that she didn't even think that Hamlet wasn't serious about her until her father and brother made such a big deal about it.
