GR: One more incident   Written by Laraine (5/19/2003 12:00 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, GR: Ophelia, flowers and weeds, penned by Barbara
Are you new?

Remember when Ophelia comes in after Laertes arrives in a furor and gives flowers to everyone? She says,

                                          I would give you
some violets, but they withered all when my father
died
Is she telling Laertes that her father's death is what drove her mad? Or is she telling Laertes that Hamlet killed him, and that's what drove her mad? The last time they spoke, violets certainly came up in the conversation, and they were speaking of Hamlet. Perhaps this isn't of great significance, but isn't it interesting?
