|GR: Diaries are so revealing

It has been a while since I read Pepys Diary, but whilst reading this TGD I am constantly reminded of Parson Woodfordes Diary. both record such minute details of their everyday life (luckily for us).
] Here is ES's entry about her new Gillows table... Good luck using it & hope we shall all have our Healths & do well.
I found the "blessing" of newly bought goods similar to the words my family (Irish) use even today. If someone we know has bought an item of furniture and shows it to us, we use the stock phrase "I wish you well to use it", I used to say this without thinking. Since reading about ES it makes some sense.
Maybe we are closer to the 18C then we think? Nothing new under the sun eh?
