GR: I am very glad to hear what you tell us of long sleeves   Written by Myretta (11/2/2003 9:08 a.m.)
Are you new?

Well, who could help but think of Mrs. Gardiner bringing news of the latest London fashions when reading Chapter Five?

I loved the illustrations of current fashions in Elizabeth Shackleton's memorandum books, although I imagine that by the time she got around to seeing them, they were probably out of date.

Although being in the first stare of fashion did not seem to be paramount to these genteel ladies, I got the impression that dress was still an important indicator of their level of gentility.
