Are you new?

]Were they upset because they had her vaccinated and she had a bad reaction, or because they didn't have her vaccinated and she later came down with the disease?

They relate that "...Dr Pope, our friend at Staines, has six nieces just recovering from the small pox all of them were vaccinated some years ago."

I initially thought that they had her vaccinated, but she still came down with the disease. It isn't very clear, though, is it?
