I think that it is also possible that Shackleton married Eliz Parker for her connections and economic gain. Perhaps he didn't expect her brother, who was connected and wealthy, to disapprove so strongly and cease communicating with his sister. Shackleton may have been disappointed in this loss and therefore, less satisfied with the match.
