Zoe, when she refused Harris Bigg Withers.It would have meant financial security for her, indeed luxury.And this would probably have included Cassandra and her mother too.

Another awful point to consider was the close friendships between the Brigg Withers sisters and the Austen girls.I think it was embarrassing all round.

The haste with which they left Manydown indicated just how terrible they felt the events were,IMHO.
