But the Georgian ladies were only executives on the homefront...   Written by KerstinM (10/19/2003 1:56 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, GR:Chaps 1&2: Georgian C.E.O.s?, penned by Tara O'Donnell

] What I'm basically saying is that Georgian ladies were Corporate executives of the homefront-they had to "network" their families ties, maintain the social balance of the community and keep the fortunes growing by making good matches. The main difference,IMO,is that nowadays, most women have to use their managing skills at work AND at home.

....if an indulgent husband let them be. They were entirely dependent on his good will and that's the main difference between then and today for me. Not even in the best of marriages men and women were on equal footing. Actually a Georgian woman had to resort a lot to scheming and negotiating in areas which we take for absolutly granted today.
