I get it....   Written by Golda (10/6/2004 11:31 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Perspective, penned by LaurieC
Are you new?

...but I disagree. The point of Young Jo talking to Bosinney, per the request of Old Jolyon, is to find out what Bosinney is planning to do. Is he going to marry June? Is he going to continue his affair with Irene? He cannot do both, er, well, he ought not to do both.

Young Jo may be Irene's counterpart with regard to unhappy marriages, but his business is not with Irene. And even if Irene stopped seeing Bosinney to permit the marriage to go forward, does that mean that Bosinney would still want to marry June?

Another interesting thought -- do you think that June would have Bosinney after this affair? Would she still want to marry him after the hurt and humiliation? This reminds me of Sophia Gray -- I never quite understood why she married Willoughby with all her money. She could have found many a handsome cad and I think that June could too.
