I got the idea from a passage   Written by Rosalie (9/27/2004 9:42 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Soames, penned by Golda
Are you new?

in Part 1, Ch.VI - James wants to know for sure that Soames is building a house. "Rather than go direct to Soames himself, of whose taciturnity he was afraid, he went round to Timothy's".

Father and son do not have a close relationship, if James can't ask his son about plans to build a house. However, I believe he has a lot of respect for the professional side of Soames.
