I bought it   Written by Golda (9/22/2004 12:17 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, I noticed that they sell the complete series, penned by Elsie
Are you new?

I bought the DVDs, using my mother as an excuse. I thought she might enjoy it after all these years. Then I had to buy a DVD player, which I gave to my Dad for Father's Day, at the same time I brought her the DVD for no particular reason. ;-) I watched the series over three weekends when I was visiting and enjoyed it.

You are right -- it is a lot of money. I tend not to spend my money on DVDs (or videos in the old days). I can only watch something so many times so it's not worth it to me. The series is very well done for its time but keep in mind that the production values are 1960s BBC. The make up is 60s; the hair has a 60s edge to the period styles. The costumes are detailed and well-done (there is a bit about the costumes in the extras and they had hundreds since the series spans 40 or so years). If you have scarce dollars (or whatever currency) to spend, I wouldn't recommend it unless you love to watch things over and over. It's not P&P2.
