Groucho Forsythe?   Written by Tori Marie (9/20/2004 10:47 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Defining social climbing, penned by Golda
Are you new?

] "He naturally despised the Club that did take him."

I found this interesting...and perhaps telling. Does it mean that he has a certain amount of self-loathing, making him detest those who would willingly accept him? Or does he merely despise his position in society, to the point where he can only respect those clubs which are beyond his reach? (This may tie in with your social-climbing idea, Laurie) I really do not know the answer to this right now. I am trying to understand his character but I cannot make him out. ;-)

About the Groucho thing, now you two have me wondering if Groucho read Galsworthy or if he was just on a similar wavelength. ;-)
