Perhaps I'm alone   Written by Melissa (9/20/2004 4:17 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, soames, penned by Elsie
Are you new?

But so far I feel sorry for Soames, I have to agree I am not sure whether he loves her, but he seems very confused.

He doesn't seem to comprehend Irene at all, why she acts the way she does, the looks she gives him. It is true that he sees her as an object that he owns, although how different is he to any other husband of the time? But he wants her to care for him equal to how he cares for her, or thinks he cares for her.

I find it difficult to feel sympathy for Irene at the moment, perhaps I will change my mind. Soames is kind enough to her as far as I have seen, he gives her everything she wants and would keep doing that to try and make her happy. Perhaps he isn't able to give her what she truely wants, what that is I am not sure yet either.

He did chase her, but she also gave in, it seems to me that she has realised that perhaps she made a mistake, but she isn't even trying to make the best of it now. Considering the time I assume it would ruin her if she left, especially as we have been told she has no money. Wouldn't it be better to try and find the good, it's not as if he drank ;0)
