I think that the musical Mr Dixon might even have been the friend that brought the handsome and fine-voiced Frank Churchill to Weymouth. And even Emma would have found sufficient explanation for Jane Fairfax's lack of interest in plain Mr Dixon, and Mr Dixon's satisfaction in settling for the plain Miss Campbell, if she had known that Frank Churchill had been there to eclipse him, from the first. ( Oh! Miss Woodhouse! who can think of Mr Dixon, when Mr Churchill is near!)
