You are right, but Mr Knightly is trying to get Mr Martin and Harriet BACK together. He's not a matchmaker a la Emma in the sense of getting two otherwise indifferent individuals together. He knew they could still have strong feelings for each other.

Even so, I'm glad you mentioned this because I hadn't picked up on it (!) and it makes me like Mr. Knightly even more. It's kind of cute. I like Mr Knightly better after this group read. He's less "cardboardy".
