"I Told You I Was Ill" part two (and three)   Written by Tarn (5/8/2008 11:52 p.m.)
Are you new?

From "Jane Austen, Her Life and Letters, A Family Record": Her custom of following her creations outside the printed pages enables us to say that the word swept aside unread by Jane Fairfax was 'pardon'; and that the Knightleys' exclusion from Donwell was ended by the death of Mr. Woodhouse in two years' time. According to a less well-known tradition, Jane Fairfax survived her elevation only nine or ten years.

How sad! (Although, Mr Woodhouse was only given two less, and Mrs Frank Churchill, seven or eight more years to live, than their creator.)
