In my translation of Emma there is a footnote to this passage which says that Jane Austenīs brother is supposed to have told her that blooming orchards and ripe strawberries arenīt likely to be seen at the same time in South-England. But obviously that didnīt impress our beloved author. Anyway - the view must have been marvellous...
