I once saw a brief interview with P.D. James Written by Nancy Ann (5/3/2008 7:42 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, The plot thickens!, penned by Rachel G

(and luckily taped it!) In it she talked about Emma as being one of her favorite 'mystery' novels. She praised JA as a superlative mystery writer. These might be the sorts of reasons why!!
