Agreed,   Written by nan duval (4/30/2008 7:21 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, It also makes me a tad queasy, penned by Nancy Ann
Are you new?

So often it is our own faults that we find inexcusable in others. In many ways Emma & Augusta(great name for her--Caesar, august as in amazingly wonderful) share the same snobbery. Emma deplores mixing with the masses & the social climbing of the Coles & the Eltons; Mrs. Elton deplores the social climbing of the nouveau riche around Maple Grove--of whom Mr. Suckling ( is that from the slave trade or does it just refer to suckling pigs or drawing his sustenance from someone else?) was only slightly less nouveau riche. In terms of aristocracy, Emma has the advantage; in terms of meritocracy, Emma has a slight advantage although so far both of them apear to have used their good deeds to advance ulterior motives.
