Jamdanna - Answering my own question.   Written by Rachel G (4/28/2008 7:22 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Love this picture., penned by Rachel G
Are you new?

Googling "Jamdanna" turned up a digitised copy of:

"1794-1802 Repertory of Arts and Manufacturing", published 1807, which describes a machine "..for brocading or forming Jamdanna spots, or other designs on muslin, lawn, cambric, silk or other fancy goods."

OED gives: "Jamdani" 1858 E.Indian/Persian. a species of fine cotton cloth with spots or flowers woven in the loom.

So perhaps 'Jamdanna books' are sample books showing the range of fabric patterns available.
