Question concerning postal affairs...   Written by MarianneR (4/26/2008 3:53 a.m.)
Are you new?

In ch.34 we read that Jane Fairfax goes to the post-office every morning in order to fetch the letters. I gather from her words that the post wasnīt delivered personally - it seemed to have been kept at the post-office. But on the other hand we read in ch.36 that Mr.Weston met the letters in my way this morning.. This sounds to me as if he stopped the stage-coach. Or did he just happen to meet his servant fetching the letters? But if that was the case why didnīt he say "I met James(or whoever) with the letters this morning"?
