Fondness for intrigue...   Written by Moni (4/25/2008 10:36 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Emma began to have suspicions of Jane, penned by Graciela
Are you new?

This is interesting. I find Emma has this taste for intrigue, whether it is purely an intellectual game for her to occupy her mind, I do not know. She likes to draw out the happenings around her, nose out facts of personal things about people. In this way is she acting out a role?

So far she is a complex character, kind and good, yet not always aware of other people's motivations or feelings, in spite of being willing to enter into the intrigues of those around her.

She self-examines a fair bit, so she always seems to be working things out. Mr Knightley notices subtle changes in her, and she seems to think about what he says a lot, and she cares for her father's good opinion, too.

She seems to want to know what's going on, and seems to believe it her right to know the ins and outs of Highbury, because of her status at Hartfield.
