Self centred.   Written by Rachel G (4/25/2008 4:39 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Emma's horror for the mixture of ranks, penned by Graciela
Are you new?

The passage you quote about the pain caused by Emma's meddling re. Harriet and the Martins makes me very angry with her. Just as I begin to think that she has realised her error and the pain she has caused to others, i find that it is her own pain which concerns her most. I feel she deserves a taste of her own medicine.

I am not quite sure where Emma's horror at the confusion of ranks has come from. Mrs Weston does not seem to be similarly afflicted. Perhaps it has just grown from being at the top of the social heap in a very confined society.
