"Well studied in the Regency"   Written by Tarn (4/24/2008 10:56 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Ironic, how Austen Like, penned by Antoinette
Are you new?

Certainly applies to JulieW and many, many people at this site, but not to me. It is true I have read Emma a lot and use Google a lot, but I am Australian, working class, and did not even study English literature (or grammar) at school.

Part of what makes Pemberley so wonderful to me, is that there are people here who can see Jane Austen's writings in its literary, social, economic and historic context. Google is wonderful, but it cannot replace several years study of the corn laws, or the experience of working in one of the great houses, or growing up in an English village.
I do like sharing my discoveries about Emma with people who actually care about her, and do not intentionally post misinformation, but there is a possibility that what I think is true or probable, is not.
