that she's seeing the tray as the buther puts it in the front window of his shop? The shop wouldn't need to be out of the way; the butchering might well have been done somewhere other than the same building where the shop resided.

Just to be clear, in chapter 22 Emma says, "My dear papa, I sent the whole hind-quarter" -- not the front quarter.
