How and where would you place Robert Martin? Written by Mary-L (4/21/2008 11:49 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Highbury aristcracy vs meritocracy, penned by nan duval

I am quite intrigued by your thought of the meritocracy of Highbury!

I suggest Robert Martin might go just after Mr Cole, and be described as a hard-working member of the community who is bettering himself and his family.

He could be ranked just above Mr Perry, who only entertains Mr W and hasn't killed anyone!

And Harriet would be ranked below Emma, and perhaps in the same group as Robert Martin's mother and sisters!
