Mr. Knightley and frank   Written by Antoinette (4/21/2008 1:22 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Caught Mr. Knightley being human again..., penned by MarianneR
Are you new?

Well this gives me a chance to post on something I have noticed. Mr. Knightley really doesn't like Frank Churchill. He was angry at him for not paying his visit to Mrs. Weston in the timely fashion. And that dislike has grown stronger since Mr. Churchill's arrival in town. Even such a thing as Frank's handwriting merits Mr. Knightley's ire in chapter 34:

>>>>Mrs. Weston was disengaged and Emma began again -- "Mr. Frank Churchill writes one of the best gentlemen's hands I ever saw."

"I do not admire it," said Mr. Knightley. "It is too small -- wants strength. It is like a woman's writing." <<<<<<<

He was going to come up and visit Miss Bates till he heard that Frank was there and then he begged off. Mr. Knightley seriously dislikes Frank Churchill.
