Are you new?

He does know his neighbors so well! He is not embarrased by Miss Bates calling him and starting a conversation from an open window - apparently everyone heard it - including her visitors in the next room. Mr. Knightley, determined to be heard, held a conversation with her and thought nothing of their neighbors, who I am sure were listening to every word.
