by both Frank and Emma's willingness to discuss Jane Fairfax in such terms. Emma's asking him whether he knew Jane's 'circumstances' for example seems a real breach of privacy. And she does it in public - not just in front of Mrs Weston, who has the grace to comment (mildly) and move away, but also, presumably, the member of Fords' staff who is showing them the gloves. But then I suppose Emma would not consider such a person to matter.
