I doubt such a mindset as Emma's is going to change overnight (or in a few month's time!!) Reminds me of many a New Year's resolution, which we are all familiar with: 'I will never ____ again, or 'I will always___ from now on!' In reality, it' a lot harder to practice what we think we have learned! The next 'real world' opportunity or circumstance arises, and without knowing it, we slip back into our habits!! I think it's part of the fun of the novel to know that in many ways, Emma is going to be Emma all her life! For me, that is part of the comedy of the novel!!
